Xynaxos and the Aelarins

The ancient ancestry of the Aelarins can trace itself back to the very genesis of the land of Celestarn itself. When the universe was but an empty canvas, awaiting the brushstrokes of creation, this noble family took foothold in the mountains to the East, below the river Carn. Tracing their lineage back to the Primordial Five, forces of darkness had long sought to bring down this noble house.

Since the beginning of The Shattered Eye, the efforts of the forces of evil had redoubled, and the Aelarins have been a primary target for the schemes of all that walk in the Shadowlands. In pursuit of its nefarious agenda, the forces of malice had sought an emissary to infiltrate their ranks and gather information helpful to their demise.

Enthralled by the prospects of infinite power, Xynaxos — a powerful shapeshifter — had pledged its loyalty to the shadow aeons ago. With its newfound powers of mimicry and deception, Xynaxos was dispatched to infiltrate the Aelarin family under the guise of a benign pet companion. It slithered into their lives with calculated charm, weaving threads of artificial camaraderie amongst them. In the cloak of darkness, Xynaxos transmitted the Aelarins' every secret, every intimate detail, back to its malevolent master. It gathered fragments of cherished memories, whispered conversations, and guarded aspirations, all to satiate the Shadowlands' thirst for dominion over all.

Yet, the mechanical spy was not impervious to the tendrils of humanity. Over time, as it bore witness to the Aelarins' genuine love and benevolence, faint echoes of remorse flickered within the depths of its metallic heart. Amidst its treacherous deeds, an internal struggle ensued between the foul enchantments of its dark master and the newfound enchantments of love and kindness.
